Ronan Telephone Company, located in the northwest Montana with a telecommunications exchange on the Flathead Native American Reservation has received a $13.7M broadband stimulus award to build a new high-speed middle-mile fiber network that will expand broadband services across an underserved region of the

state with high employment rates and greatly in need of improved internet services. Ronan's Montana West Project will expand broadband and high-speed wireless services to the Confederated Salish and Kootenai and the Blackfeet Native American Tribes, while improving access options in the underserved communities of Elmo, Big Arm, Evaro, St. Mary, Babb, Santa Rita, Heart Butte, and East Glacier Park, Montana. The project will make the economic development and recovery of these communities a chief focus of its operations, linking residents to skills training and distance learning.

  • Provide competitive Broadband services to underserved communities
  • Create jobs short & long term
  • Positive economic impact for western Montana
  • Leverage this project to other areas of Montana
